Essay Guidance

Essay concept brainstorming with the BIG Essay Idea cards, a unique counseling tool co-developed by Jodi, to inspire unique personal statements and essays.
Guidance on other written application components including short answers, supplemental essays, resumes, artist statements and activity descriptions.

High School Academic Planning

Evaluation of a student’s academic goals, optimizing a path and suggesting coursework.
Supplemental coursework/program suggestions to enhance a student’s rigor or depth of knowledge.

Extracurricular Planning

Advising for extracurricular activities including volunteer, employment, internship, job shadow and summer enrichment that allows a student to explore areas of interest.
Guidance for leadership activities, research partnership programs and other opportunities that help students engage and complete interesting and relevant projects.

Test Planning

Consideration of testing strategies and test prep timeline for SAT, ACT, IB and AP exams.
Evaluation of test optional/test blind/test flexible colleges and recommendation of appropriate strategy for individual student.

College List

Development of unique and customized college list with counseling software that considers a student’s preferred interests, location, academic environment, lifestyle, budget and prospective major/minor.
Identify Reach, Maybe and Likely schools, submission strategies (Early Action, Early Decision and Regular Decision) and application/scholarship deadlines.

APPLICATION PREPARATION

Assistance completing and submitting all college application platforms for both private and public institutions.
Preparation for obtaining recommendations, writing resumes, completing supplemental responses and uploading additional application components.

COLLEGE VISITS & INTERVIEWS

Suggestions for touring college campuses and demonstrating interest.
Admissions and scholarship interview preparation including Mock Interviews.

The Cost of College

Review of financial aid requirements (FAFSA and CSS Profile).
Suggestions for scholarship strategies including application and essay guidance for college-specific merit-based aid or private scholarships.
